I am extremely proud of this piece's transformation, from a dated, veneered block into a real statement piece.
Mottled tones of dusky deep purple, mauve and greyish lilac play around the piece. Using WoodUbend mouldings I crafted an oval frame, only gently gilded and aged, filled with a decoupage of flowers in the style of Dutch Masters oil pantings of 18th century, with a true centre stage being taken up by the golden serpent.
This piece is romantic, mysterious and yet versatile and very useful. It has a large cupboard and a small drawer and can be used both as a bedside cabinet or a side/occasional table.
